Updating the Progress of USAID IUWASH PLUS to the Government of Indonesia

On January 9, 2017, USAID IUWASH PLUS held a Technical Team and Echelon 2 Meeting in Jakarta. This meeting attended by 27 participants including the Echelon 2 Officers of Government of Indonesia (GOI) from Bappenas, MPWH, MOH and academics from ITB.

Facing the Second Year of USAID IUWASH PLUS Program, USAID IUWASH PLUS team needs to provide update on the current progress and its plans for the Project Year 2. This meeting aims to ensure the coordination and maintain communication between USAID IUWASH PLUS and GOI Technical Counterpart Agency/Technical Team. This meeting also served as the kick-off meeting on the development of action plan and consolidation of Water Safety Plan (WSP) policy framework.

In the opening, Tri Virgiyanti Director of Urban, Housing and Settlement in Bappenas expressed her appreciation to USAID IUWASH PLUS and also expected the synergy with USAID IUWASH PLUS especially for the improvement of National Urban Water Supply (NUWAS) Sector. ”Right now, we are planning the NUWAS and I hope USAID IUWASH PLUS can contribute more for the NUWAS implementation in 2018,” she said.

During the meeting, the USAID IUWASH PLUS team presented the progress and achievement of USAID IUWASH PLUS project during 2017 and the work plan for 2018.

The lessons learned from the WSP study visit to the Philippines held on December 2017 were also shared and discussed in the meeting. The discussion resulted in the valuable recommendations for the future WSP implementation. Tirta Sutedjo from Bappenas appreciated the support in consolidating RPAM framework as it will help the GOI in effort to scale up. ”In implementing WSP, we need to provide a road map that will serve as a guidance for the next step ofRPAM,” emphasized Tirta.
