Tangerang district government with supports from USAID IUWASH PLUS launched the regular desludging service (LLTT) at UPT IPAL on October 10, 2019.
This service was launched as part of the district government’s commitment to providing community with domestic wastewater management.
Tangerang Regent, Ahmed Iskandar Zaki, said that improvement of water and sanitation coverage and access to household waste channel have been included into Tangerang district RPJMD. Besides the LLTT, Zaki also explains that Tangerang district government has implemented various sanitation programs, such as GEBRAK PAKUMIS (a program for rehabilitating uninhabitable houses), SANISEK (sanitation at school), and SANITREN (sanitation at pesantren).
“I hope these programs can be development priorities, and will improve equal distribution of safely managed sanitation access and quality,” said Ahmed Iskandar Zaki.
Director Environment Office USAID, Jason Seuc, appreciates Tangerang district government for achieving the 100-0-100 program, in which access to improved sanitation for all becomes one of its goals.
“This program should be continued to achieve safely managed sanitation which is completed with the LLTT,” said Jason Seuc.
LLTT is a part of the cooperation between Tangerang district government and USAID IUWASH PLUS. Various efforts have been implemented to prepare this service, among others is the development of SIMLASTI—an information management system to monitor the whole LLTT activities. As of October 2019, around 2,211 households have registered into SIMLASTI.
In order to support the LLTT implementation, Tangerang Regent is committed to providing additional septage truck and building two septage treatment plants to process sludge.
Present in the LLTT launching in Tangerang district were the officials and staff of the MPWH, the district housing, settlement, and cemetery, the district health office, puskesmas, as well as the head of Sepatan Timur urban village, representatives from the private sector, microfinance institutions, university, and community organizations. Representatives from Depok city and Bogor district governments were also in attendance to observe and learn more about LLTT implementation from Tangerang district.
